The Young Rider Program aims to encourage eligible YR members in their chosen
discipline through North Coast Equestrian Club events similar to programs ran in greater
metropolitan areas. Participants are welcomed in all abilities and disciplined to
participate in a friendly club environment to receive certificates of achievement for
participation in core activities and opportunities to grow in their chosen discipline
through training days, clinics and ongoing NCEC events.
What is it about?

  • To provide a pathway for young riders allowing them the opportunity to “Take the Next Step” onto further participation in their chosen discipline similar to opportunities available in greater metropolitan areas. 
  • To provide opportunities, resources and an environment that will encourage young riders to learn more about their sport, develop and improve their skills, and compete at more advanced levels.
  • To encourage education and support for other riders, both younger and older.

Riders can apply from the commencement of the calendar year in which they turn ten years old on ponies and twelve on horses, and can remain with the YRP until the end of the year in which they turn twenty-five.
Riders must be financial members of NCEC.
Each rider will commit to:

  • Attending three events 
  • Volunteering at three events 
  • Attending coaching development opportunities 

In return participants will:

  • Receive opportunities for Personal Development through assisting with events participating, volunteering & attending training days/clinics 
  • Develop skills that will help riders grow in their chosen discipline 
  • Certificate of Achievement for participation in YRP (presented half yearly & annually)
  • Eligibility for Young Rider Program Prizes
